We’ve had the privilege of traveling to some beautiful places, but there is something so uniquely charming about Texas. Maybe we are biased because the Lone Star State is our home, but we are firm believers that a Texas sky at sunset could give even the Eiffel Tower a run for its money! Insert into the frame a couple as beautiful and in love as Holly and Stephen, and voila – a masterpiece! (Watch out, Mona Lisa!)
Holly and Stephen met last July when they were set up on a blind date by family members. It only took a couple of months for them to know that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Even though they seemed to be both on the same page about their desire to get married, Stephen’s timeline started to look a little differently than what Holly had hoped after they took Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University Class. A proposal that seemed only months away was starting to seem years away! OR was this just Stephen’s attempt to throw Holly off the scent?
In February, Holly and Stephen took a trip to Red River, NM with family and friends. They were having a wonderful time playing in the snow and skiing when on their way back from lunch, they realized that Holly’s skis had gone missing! After quite an ordeal to get them replaced, Holly was feeling pretty bummed, but little did she know that her bad day was about to turn into the BEST day! Stephen, Holly, and her cousin, Danielle, along with her cousin’s husband, Dustin, got onto a ski lift and headed to the top of the mountain. Once they got there, it began to snow, creating the most magical scene! Danielle and Dustin offered to take some pictures of Holly and Stephen. Before Holly knew it, Stephen was down on one knee asking her to marry him! She was completely shocked but absolutely thrilled!
On the way back down the mountain, she couldn’t take her eyes off of her beautiful engagement ring. Stephen explained to her that he’d had the ring custom designed with special meaning. The band is two pieces twisted around each other, one with diamonds, and one without. He told her that the part of the band with the diamonds represents her and the part of the band without the diamonds represents him. The solitaire diamond in the middle, the point where the two bands come together as one, represents God.
We could hardly wait to get Holly and Stephen in front of our cameras for their engagement session! When we spoke about where to do their shoot, Holly asked if we knew a spot that had an old barn. As soon as she asked, we knew exactly where to take them! Our dear friends, Danny and Trena Anderson, are in the process of building a stunning wedding venue just west of Katy, and we’d just recently been out there to see the progress they’ve made. We were blown away! Massive oak trees, a gorgeous wrap around porch, white picket fence, wall to wall shiplap, antique chandeliers, and a rustic, old barn – it looks like a home straight out of an episode of “Fixer Upper”! Being some of the most hospitable people we know, Danny and Trena extended an invite to us to come out to their property to do a shoot anytime we wanted. So, we took them up on that offer for Holly and Stephen’s session, and WOW! We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful night, venue, or couple!
Holly and Stephen will say “I do” on July 22, 2017 in Beaumont, TX.
